Felicity Park | Luxury Country House | Winchester, Hampshire

Felicity Park

Fullerton, Winchester, Hampshire, UK

Daringly fun and flamboyantly colourful, arriving at Felicity Park feels like falling into a jar of jelly beans. With a rambunctious spirit and genuinely joyful energy, this luxury country house and estate in Hampshire is an original Victorian red brick that's been turned into a playful château; a place where wildflowers border formal gardens, bohemian umbrellas shade the heated outdoor swimming pool, and pompoms swing in the orangery.

Book

Introduction

Hidden by a row of trees in the peaceful Hampshire countryside, and less than two hours from London, this Victorian country home near Winchester retains all the eclectic and ornamental oomph of the era. Bright, design-led interiors make easy work of being idle, and the storybook grounds reveal banks of fragrant lavender, carpets of cottage garden flowers, elegant climbing wisteria, and blooms that clamber over red brick walls. While winter nights call for tipples at the antiqued-mirror bar, the heat of summer invites glamorous rural R&R; the kind of poolside soirées one might see on the silver screen.

Inside

With lollipop interiors and tropical self-designed wallpaper, Felicity Park could be the home of Willy Wonka himself. Not a place where the prescriptive rules of "grown-up" interiors apply, what awaits behind the grand double-door entrance is a world of pure imagination; copper bathtubs, a cotton candy kitchen, curated artworks, and animal prints of all descriptions. From reading in the formal lounge to painting in the light-filled orangery, there's an array of breakout spaces that bring calm and conviviality to this luxury country manor. It's one of those rare places that pairs perfectly with multi-gen gatherings.

Outside

Lovingly tended, Felicity Park's gardens are a riot of wisteria and wildflowers. There's a sunny courtyard, a manicured lawn, and clusters of topiaries that make bulbous pockets of shade that are just right for picnicking. It's a place for playing Uno and topping sundaes with the leftovers from the biscuit tin, where children build blanket forts and the rest start Champagne hour at 3pm. There's late-night suppers of spaghetti aglio e olio to be eaten cross-legged by the pool, and loungers that make garden-goers of even the most cosy indoor folk. And beyond its borders lies Jane Austen's green and hillocky county.

From the owner

“As a family we simply love the peace and tranquillity that Felicity Park offers. We have many happy memories of long nights barbecuing in the pool hut — our favourite space at our colourful home — in all seasons of the year.”

From the owner

We had lived in the area for years, and after many months of searching and countless viewings, we noticed that Felicity Park had come onto the market. Instantly, we knew it was the place for us. We purchased the house and estate in 2013, and started with the renovations the following year.

Our home was originally built to house the coaches for the nearby manor, and it would have incorporated stables to accommodate the horses. Approximately fifty years ago, it was converted into a residence, so we were lucky that much of the hard work had already been done for us.

As an interior designer, I love experimenting with colour and wallpapers. Much of the furniture is self-designed and then created by our local joiner. We added an extension, which is where you’ll find the kitchen and breakfast room, although the weather delayed its completion, so for three months our family would run up and down from the cottage with trays of food!

The setting is so secluded, and we love the peace it offers. For us, it is such a restful, joyful place; and we hope you have the same experience.

Guest Testimonials

Felicity Park is a stunning property and so perfect for our whole family. The house is very comfortable and had everything we could have wished for and more. The gardens are simply beautiful and provided much entertainment for everyone; a morning swim in the pool, long leisurely lunches in the pool hut, a late afternoon game of tennis, and finishing the day with drinks from the bar and nibbles on the terrace. We didn’t want to leave this haven and we look forward to returning in the future.

Wow, this house is both stunning and immaculate! We had hours of fun on the tennis court and in the swimming pool, amazing dining in the pool hut, and the best cosy evenings spent on the squishy sofas beside the fire. Everything a family could wish for; the perfect week away. We loved it!
